A brief -very broad brush- history of the formation of the 5 points of the doctrines of grace. The doctrine is Biblical. It's not the doctrine of men. But the -5 points- were formulated as answers to error.

Part 2 of the series. The why of the total depravity

We continue to look into the Doctrines of Grace tonight and will begin our study on the doctrine of Election. The first thing I want to do, and this will be the message tonight, is to look at God's Decree. --The Lord God is sovereign, and does as He pleases, whenever He pleases. Any right view of salvation, must take that as the overarching theme. Berkoff said, --God- has sovereignly determined from all eternity whatsoever will come to pass, and works His sovereign will in His entire creation, both natural and spiritual, according to His pre-determined plan.-
