Welcome to Episode #2 of Buffy's Flavorful Journey Podcast, where today's focus is on a topic often shrouded in silence but experienced by all women - Menopause. Join me, Buffy, as I candidly share my personal experiences with this life-changing phase, tackling it with humor, honesty, and a bit of fiery spirit.
In this episode, I dive into the heated world of hot flashes, discussing their sudden and intense nature, and how I've been coping with them since their onset in October 2023. I also explore natural remedies like Evening Primrose supplements and the potential benefits of magnesium, inviting listeners to share their experiences and tips in the comments.
The conversation then turns to the return of 'My List' - the list of things that irk me, a byproduct of menopausal irritability. I reflect on how 2024 has brought this back with a vengeance and my journey to manage these feelings.
Hair changes are up next, including loss and slower growth, a side effect I first noticed post-COVID-19 vaccination. I'll link a related video in the podcast description for more details. Here's the link to the my YouTube video on my hair loss: https://youtu.be/hTvjOjxx1mA
The rollercoaster doesn't stop there. I share the emotional turmoil of having my period return just shy of reaching the 12-month mark to officially enter menopause, its untimely arrival last Valentine's Day, and the physical discomforts like joint pains. Hear how I've turned to fitness, using the Daily Workout app since October 2023, to combat these pains and gain physical and emotional strength, moving from 5-minute exercises to 30-minute sessions.
Fatigue, a common menopausal symptom, is also on the table. I talk about how staying awake past 8 pm feels like a feat and how I'm embracing the journey to turning 55 and all the perks it brings.
Lastly, I discuss the changes in my skin, especially the persistent dryness and itchiness, and how I've been dealing with it.
Menopause is a journey every woman embarks on, and it's high time we break the silence and share our stories. I encourage you to join the conversation, leave comments, share your experiences, and, of course, subscribe for more episodes and potential YouTube livestreams on this and other topics relevant to single women over 50.
Together, let's demystify menopause and support each other through this chapter of our lives. Thank you for tuning in to Buffys Flavorful Journey. Until next time, I wish you all the best, Family!
