Directed by Skye Fitzgerald, Academy Award Nominee for Best Documentary Short "Lifeboat" bears witness to refugees desperate enough to risk their lives in rubber boats leaving Libya in the middle of the night, despite a high probability of drowning. With few resources but certain that civil society must intervene, volunteers from a German non-profit risk the waves of the Mediterranean to pluck refugees from sinking rafts. In a real-life context with dire consequences, "Lifeboat" puts a human face on one of the world’s greatest contemporary, global crises and provides a spark of hope surrounding how civil society can intervene in the refugee crisis in a meaningful way.

The most personal project to date from Academy Award-winning director and writer Alfonso Cuarón, "Roma" follows Cleo (Yalitza Aparicio), a young domestic worker for a family in the middle-class neighborhood of Roma in Mexico City. Delivering an artful love letter to the women who raised him, Cuarón draws on his own childhood to create a vivid and emotional portrait of domestic strife and social hierarchy amidst political turmoil of the 1970s. Oscar-nominated actresses Yalitza Aparicio and Marina de Tavira came to BUILD to speak on the Oscar-nominated film.

"Proven Innocent" follows an underdog criminal defense firm led by Madeline Scott, a fierce and uncompromising lawyer with a hunger for justice. There is no one who understands the power of setting an innocent person free more than Madeline. Madeline runs the firm with her partner, Easy Boudreau the very lawyer who helped set her free after 10 years in prison. Their team also includes investigator Bodie Quick and communications director Violet Price (Tony Award winner Nikki M. James), who runs a true-crime podcast that follows each investigation.

Gary Sinise has worked tirelessly on behalf of those who serve this country, entertaining more than a half million troops around the world playing bass guitar with his Lieutenant Dan Band, raising funds on behalf of veterans, and eventually founding the Gary Sinise Foundation with a mission to serve and honor America’s defenders, veterans, first responders, their families, and those in need. His new book, "Grateful American: A Journey from Self to Service," is the moving, entertaining, profoundly gripping story of how one man found his calling: to see that those who defend this country and its freedoms are never forgotten.
