As a Creator, as a musician, as a singer, as a songwriter… there is opposition, and it will slap you right up your face. And then a day, a week, a month, sometimes even years can go by in your life, because of opposition. I’m coming into your earbuds to encourage you, and help light a new fire to create!

On a documentary on Grunge, they asked Jack Endino, “Why do you think so much good music comes out of Seattle?” Here what he said, and also what another Seattle producer said about my song "Under Again". 

You’ve got to overcome song writing opposition. If you don’t, it’s like a slat in the face.

I share many stories on this episode, and even included a clip of the spontaneous songwriting session I had on the yacht with Captain Otto just a couple days ago, the same night we went to the Karaoke Bar, and a guy there called me a “Rich Brat” because I said the word “yacht” instead of “boat”. It was opposition. And both him and his friend laughed right in my face.

That same night I came back to the old weather-beaten 1970 Hughes Northstar Racing Yacht, which is a “Creator Yacht”, and the former owner was a Creator, and his art is still seen inside the yacht. Now, it’s going into a second generation with my artist friend, Otto and I get to be a part of it, and create here too.

This was the strangest thing. I bought a Bruno Mars T-Shirt at Goodwill Store one day after my divorce and that's when I got into my accident where there's metal in my arm, and that's why my name is Robbie Silverarm, but after I got out of the hospital, my yellow Bruno Mars T-Shirt was hanging on a fake plastic tree, that I found on the side of the road in Pacific Palisades, in Pearl City, on top of the world.

I would vlog & then I'd see Bruno in the background. It's like he had my back, and he... encouraged me. I don't know how to say it. But i can say this. I've never written so many songs, where.... the good ones... always make me cry, because it's out of gratefulness that I survive. 

I grew up playing guitar and learning to sing and write songs from Chris Cornell. I got nothin' the prove. I groove how i groove. And so do you.

I'm going On Tour this year.

I don't really care how you take this, but I heard a voice that said, "Robbie, you're going on Tour this year, starting at Off The Wall in Downtown, Kaka'aka". The words that came are... "These 45 seconds might make Bruno cry, but it's not for that purpose, and he'll see why this song is just for him. And that he's gonna blast on past everything to survive. Prince came in just like Superman.

On the recording... I swear to God I'm not trying to be weird, but can hear Prince's voice?

I might be wrong. But the voice in my song said, "This is for Bruno, and it might just be sung as a song for you too, because your eyes are so blue and sometimes the lines never said are the strongest lines that ever Wed. (Robbie, stop right there)

The song is a gift from Prince to Bruno Mars via Robbie Silverarm, take it or leave it, but this is a charm, that soon his guitar will arrest the hearts on the stage of world, and in Hawaii it's free.  When I open a Tour like an EmCee, then I'lll know why I was Youth Pastor on Maui, and not rocking the stage with....  

I decided to do an Old Skool type of recording, where I recorded into my phone, then emailed it & played it back on a JBL speaker, and then recorded it, and then did it another.

I have never done this type of recording, because usually I play my guitar, but... i kid you not, and both the 3rd and 4 recording I felt the spirit of Prince singing thru me, and it was like he was singling thru Bruno Mars, because he said the song is for him, but he songs it's for you, just no name, but your eyes are so blue & it's just a moment that just might happen.

The Tale of the Tragic Romance in Hawaii is a song I wrote based on a true story of someone I know right here in Hawaii that will encourage you in your own song-writing process.

Can I just say this? Songwriting isn’t always easy. Sometimes we try to force a song into existence when it hasn’t yet been birthed yet. But finding creative ideas to spark the song into its embryonic form is often closer than we think.

My songwriting ideas come from many things, but many times what I'll do is first⏤ see how the music of the song feels to me first, and then go from there.

Soon I’ll be delving in further to various songwriting processes, which will be a bit more organized. These beginning podcast episodes are to meant to get the ball rolling, to inspire you to write songs, and help spark something new in you to create.

On this Bonus Episode I share how Willie Nelson inspires me to write and perform music, and also... I play the song, "Always On My Mind" with the right lyrics this time. "Bonus Dude, you rock, Robbie!”

Willie Nelson is a huge inspiration to me in more ways than one. His beautiful rendition of "Always On My Mind" puts shivers down my spine and makes cry every single time. But the fact he’s 87 years old (in 2021) and he’s going On Tour this year AND already has 2022 Tour Dates booked. (Shesh, don’t we feel lazy ?) but it so inspires me to make every day count, and to go for it. I challenge you to do the same!

I wanted to include this bonus episode, because I talk a little more about Willie Nelson inspires me, and also I play my version of the song differently than episode 002, (and I correctly sang it... kinda, as imperfect as I am).

Hope it inspires you to write music, go big, don't hold, make an impact on people's lives with your music, your art, your soon to be masterpiece.

I wrote "Curse Your Weather" in about 10 minutes. I was scrolling through my YouTube feed and up came up Soundgarden's #1 song: "Black Hole Sun", and because of Chris's history with Depression, and how that it was so popular, it kind of made me mad.

It made me made because Chris Cornell was a very good friend, and now he's gone. So, because of my close relationship with Chris I felt a certain artistic license to say what I saw in the song.

I make reference to Black Hole Sun, Euphoria Morning, Times of Trouble, Say Hello 2 Heaven, and send my love to Victoria Cornell, the kids, and all who loved and do love Chris Cornell with all their hearts.
