This week's title came spontaneously as I was describing the alignments in the new moon chart (May 7th), and a story came to mind of a woman I once new who was committed to building inside her heart a "landing pad for love".
This is true for all of us, that if we've gone through significant difficulties and traumas, we will close access to our heart in order to protect ourselves.
It is sad, but it is actually a wise and necessary move. If our heart has been broken, in any capacity, it is because in our innocence and openness we were vulnerable to experiences that may not have honored our sweet selves.
Whether it was a parent, passing down their trauma to us, or a friend or lover who also passed their trauma our way, we got burned. Maybe we were the perpetrator of harm. We have all played all roles, consciously or not. But in order to let good things in again, we do have to go through a healing process, re-constructing that landing pad for love, so that we can experience the beauty that life has to offer us.
