National Mental Health Awareness & Suicide Prevention Week, an annual month & week-long campaign in the United States to inform and engage health professionals and the general public about suicide prevention/warning signs of suicide

A Noted Film Director, Hezues R, who's been applauded by The U.S. President of the United States & worked with the likes of  Ciroc Vodka, Russell Simmons on successful media campaigns, He addresses the issue of mental health, through a movie called "Suicide Saint".

Through all of this madness is one issue that has plagued people of color with very few having the courage to address – mental health. The World Health Organization (WHO) states over 800,000 people commit suicide every year – that’s one person every forty seconds. Also, the National Council for Behavioral Health notes that 46% of adults in the USA experience mental illness. In communities of color, according to the non-profit community organization, Mental Health America, out of 13% of Black Americans in the USA (according to the Census Bureau), 16% reported having mental illness – that’s over 7 million people (more than the overall populations of Chicago, Philadelphia and Houston combined). Finally, the Center for Disease Control published that suicides and attempted suicides cost the nation almost $70 billion per year in lifetime medical and work-loss costs alone.

Not many filmmakers have been honored by one President of the United States, let alone two. Then again Hezues R isn’t your average filmmaker, as none other share the combination of his adversity and accolades , all the more reason why the entertainment industry is taking notice of this film protégé’s next project, which he claims will be his masterpiece: SUICIDE SAINT.

If you know Hezues R, then you’ve likely been inspired, as his own life is bigger than a movie. At 22 years old, he survived a barrage of bullets fired at him point blank 22 times by three would-be assailants His survival is nothing short of a miracle but still not as miraculous as his meteoric rise in entertainment - from high school dropout and drug dealer to self-made creative titan. No college, mentor, backers or connections - just a relentless work ethic and pure undeniable talent. From creating the official fragrance for the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton to
finding creative ways to give back and interject social impact in his content, like the critically acclaimed film, “April Showers.”
 
With suicide rates rapidly increasing and almost half of adults experiencing mental illness, Hezues R declares that “Rome is burning and as a society we’re not giving enough concern to the media we create - which influences how we see ourselves and each other” His mission is to save lives by making the film “Suicide Saint” and in the process, change the protocol of Hollywood. Hezues R believes in art over algorithms and that films shouldn’t just be made for profit but the added value of social good and the sake of creating something beautiful and inspiring. Hezues R gained fast followers, such as the United Nations, as they’ve selected his film as the sole movie they’re endorsing in the International 40 Days Safer Cities initiative- with “Suicide Saint” being day #20 which also falls on Oct 10th - World Mental Health Day.

Cynthia Tucker is a Pulitzer Prize-winning syndicated columnist who has spent most of her career in journalism, having previously worked for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution as an editorial page editor and as a Washington-based political columnist. She has also been featured as a political commentator on television and radio. Tucker’s work as a journalist has been celebrated by the National Association of Black Journalists (who inducted her into its hall of fame), Harvard University, and the Alabama Humanities Foundation. She spent three years as a visiting professor at the University of Georgia’s Grady College of Journalism and is currently the journalist-in-residence at the University of South Alabama.

At Hear2There (H2T), their mission is deeply personal. It began with David Furukawa, a dedicated medical professional whose journey took an unexpected turn when he was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa at age 23. Determined not to let vision loss define his future, David built a successful career in medicine, serving thousands of patients and later working at the Emory Eye Center, bridging the gap between doctors and visually impaired individuals.

In 2013, as David’s vision loss reached its final stages, tragedy struck. While crossing the street with his 4-year-old son, a car ran a stop sign. His guide dog, Simon Peter, heroically sacrificed himself to protect them. This heartbreaking event became a catalyst for change.

Determined to improve safety, confidence, and independence for people with visual impairments, David partnered with his longtime friend Chris Webb, an accomplished engineer and entrepreneur. Together, they founded Foresight Augmented Reality and later created H2T—a company dedicated to revolutionizing accessibility through advanced indoor navigation and orientation technology.

David Furukawa was diagnosed at age 14 with a retinal degenerative disease, Retinitis Pigmentosa. David has worked hard to not allow his progressive vision loss to impair his goals and accomplishments.

Graduating from Valdosta State University with a B.S. in Biology/Zoology, David studied many ecosystems and how the surrounding animal life is impacted by our environment. He has been able to draw parallels on how animals adapt to the challenges and obstacles in their own environment.

His graduate studies at the Medical College of Georgia prepared him for a professional career as a staff physician assistant: first in Internal Medicine at Kaiser Permanente, and then in the field of Ophthalmology for the Emory Eye Center for 17 years. Providing direct support to the many physicians and surgeons at Emory enlightened David in his quest for not only finding a treatment and cure for his own eye disease, but to also develop practical technologies that will enhance and improve activities of daily living. This desire to help others experiencing the same daily struggles as himself, led David to partner and consult with Foresight Augmented Reality.

David currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia with his wife Kate, a local Realtor, and teenage son William, an airplane enthusiast and aspiring pilot.

Nabaté was part of three Christian McBride Big Band’s Grammy-winning albums, ‘The Good Feeling’, ‘Bringin’ It’ and 'For Jimmy, Wes & Oliver' as well as the band’s performance at the White House for the last concert under President Barack Obama’s administration.

Nabaté Isles' broadcasting and production career is just as vast as his music career. He has covered a plethora of sporting events involving the NFL, NBA, MLB, NCAA Basketball, and world boxing championship prizefights. Nabaté co-hosted a SiriusXM boxing show, Going The Distance with the well-respected Teddy Atlas and Wally Matthews. He was featured and consulted with the ESPN 30-for-30 documentary short, '86-32'. Also, he was an accomplished producer for SiriusXM NBA Radio.

As a sports trivia expert, he is the only person to Stump The Schwab on ESPN (Season 2) and be crowned a Sports Jeopardy champion (Season 1, Episode #8), on Crackle.com.  Now, he created and hosts his own podcast, 'Whe're They At', which profiles prominent retired athletes (https://linktr.ee/Whe_reTheyAt). Kyle Arrington’s mother feared that her son’s explosive temper would be his undoing. Fighting with classmates got him twice suspended from middle school, and his parents were afraid he would one day lash out too far – and end up in jail.

A burgeoning interest in sports turned out to be the antidote to his bad temper,  Both football and Tai Kwan Do, he developed focus, concentration, and self-discipline, & he earned his black belt by his early teens.

Raised in suburban Maryland in a happy, secure two-parent household, Kyle was 12 before he joined his first football team.

A spiritual person who learned from his parents’ example to put his faith in God, Kyle’s lifelong religious faith 

He graduated from Hofstra determined to find his place in the NFL. It was an uphill battle. As a free agent, he was invited to the Eagles’ training camp and participated on their training squad but never made it to the active roster.. And then, finally, his luck changed with an invitation to play for the New England Patriots

Kyle was a starting cornerback with the Patriots, having joined their active roster full-time in 2009. Patriots coach Bill Belichick told a reporter from the Providence Journal. “When he’s had an opportunity, he’s done a good job of taking advantage of it.”

Since retiring from the NFL in 2017. Kyle,  a husband, proud father of 3, entrepreneur and active leader in his community; his message is consistent throughout all facets of his life, Kyle has written a children’s book.Peace it Together,

The  2002 BAFTA, SAC, Critics Choice Award Balloted Movie “Till”  lead actress Danielle Deadwyler gives an unforgettable performance as Mamie Till-Mobley, showing deep grief and fierce.  Mamie's actions galvanized the Civil Rights Act of 1957. She dedicated her life to teaching children while continuing to fight for civil rights in America.

 The 1955 murder of Emmett Till in Mississippi is widely remembered as one of the most horrible lynching's in American history. African American children old enough that year to be aware personally felt the terror of Till’s murder. These children, however, would rise up against the culture that made Till’s death possible. Over the next decade, from the violent Woolworth’s lunch-counter sit-ins in Jackson to the school walkouts of McComb, the young people of Mississippi picketed, boycotted, organized, spoke out, and marched, determined to reveal the vulnerability of black bodies and the ugly nature of the world they lived in. These children changed that world.
