While in many aspects God’s will is unique for each of us, there are some truths that apply to all of us. An example of this is found in Hosea 14:7. 

“They that dwell under his shadow shall return; they shall revive as the corn, and grow as the vine.”

Revive in this text means to recover, repair, rejuvenate, and be restored back to life.

Grow in this text means to flourish, to thrive and to prosper! To break forth like a bloom in the spring time!

God wants you to revive and grow!

In this episode, we’ll take a deeper look at this powerful prophecy of Hosea and its relevance for our lives today. 

Even in seasons of struggle or distance from God, His will remains the same: restoration and growth.

Welcome to episode #113 of the Building Great Lives podcast!

A study from Cornell University reveals that we make nearly 35,000 decisions each day. Thankfully, most of them are routine. However, some choices have a significant impact on various areas of our lives.

In this episode, we’re discussing the decision to choose joy. In Psalm 51:12, David asked God to restore his joy.

Now, more than ever, we need to reclaim our joy. Often, we mistake happiness for joy. True joy isn’t determined by our circumstances or what’s happening around us. It’s rooted in what has already taken place within us.

Jesus told His disciples that He gave them a joy that could remain, regardless of what was happening in the world or in their personal lives. Joy doesn’t deny our challenges—it transcends them.

Nehemiah faced enemies yet declared, “The joy of the Lord is my strength.” David endured great hardship but still chose joy. 

I choose joy!

And you should choose joy too!

This joy that we have—the world didn’t give it, and the world can’t take it away.

In today’s episode, we’re going to talk about overcoming offense. In my opinion, learning to overcome offense is one of the most important lessons we need to learn, especially if we want to continue growing in God while maintaining healthy relationships.

Truth be told, we’ve all been offended. Jesus told His disciples that offenses will come. Since completely avoiding offense is impossible, learning how to properly manage it is imperative to our spiritual, emotional, and relational well-being.

We’ll explore the nature of offense, why it’s so destructive, and how we can overcome it. We’ll look at biblical examples of those who struggled with offense and how it affected their lives. From Cain and Abel to King Saul and even John the Baptist, offense has the power to derail destinies. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Through the wisdom of Scripture and the example of Jesus, who faced the ultimate opportunity to be offended yet chose forgiveness, we can learn to navigate this challenging aspect of life.

Don’t let unresolved offense trap you in bitterness and resentment. Instead, discover how to find freedom, healing, and growth in God.

We also compare the lives of prophets Isaiah and Hosea to show that varied backgrounds and outcomes do not diminish their divine success.

In this episode of the Building Great Lives podcast, we delve into the profound impact of self-perception. The wise man Solomon, in Proverbs 23:7, wrote about how our thoughts shape our identity and destiny.

Think of self-perception like the steering wheel of a car; it has the power to guide our lives either towards or away from the purpose God has designed for us.

We’ll explore the importance of developing a biblically balanced view of ourselves, avoiding the extremes of arrogance and excessive self-criticism. Achieving this balance comes from seeing ourselves as God does: as victorious overcomers through His grace.

Consider the Israelite spies in Numbers 13. They saw themselves as insignificant grasshoppers, and as a result, their enemies viewed them the same way. This skewed self-perception led them to miss out on entering their promised land.

We then discuss the story of the ten lepers in Luke 17:11-19. Here, Jesus heals ten men afflicted by leprosy, a painful and isolating disease, but only one returns to thank Him and is made whole. We explore the difference between being healed and being made whole, emphasizing that God's restoration goes beyond physical healing to encompass emotional and mental restoration.

Further, we look at other biblical examples like Blind Bartimaeus (Mark 10:46-52) and the woman with the issue of blood (Mark 5:25-34), showing how their encounters with Jesus completely transformed their lives. These stories illustrate God's ability and desire to heal not only physically but also emotionally and spiritually.
