A reminder that nothing… nothing cannot be overcome through Jesus. There is victory in Him, and it is available for you. Death, where is your sting? Even death has been defeated, there is nothing that can stand in the way of God’s love for you. Forever.
Have you ever seen grace being given and could not understand how or why this person should be given grace? This is the feeling of the older son in Jesus’ parable (Luke 15:24-32). Through this lesson, we see that we all need grace, and that grace is available for everyone.
Everyone.
This is powerful, and may come with need for reflection. If we are all welcomed to the table, then we must be willing and open to sit and welcome all to the table. For we all need grace, and it is available to each of us.
I once was blind, but now I see.
In part one of looking at the parable of the prodigal son (Luke 15:11-32), Jason focuses on the story of the younger son who takes all of his inheritance and blows it all. Upon being lost, with nowhere to turn, he returns home. Home, where his father has been waiting, looking, longing for his return. We are reminded here that our Father in heaven is always looking out, ready to welcome us back home, to be wrapped in love and grace.
Ever lose something really important? What did you do to find it?
In Luke 15:1-10, Jesus shares two parables with some very important lessons. We are told that He will search for His lost sheep with reckless abandon, willing to leave everything on the table to reach and find you and me. We are told that when what was lost has been found, all of heaven rejoices and celebrates, for there is nothing greater.
We are also challenged in several ways, remembering that we should live on earth as it is in heaven. We must celebrate the great joy when those that are lost are found. Celebrate as they do in heaven. We also must search with reckless abandon for those that are lost and show God’s love that has been shown to us.
No matter what is going on in the world, you have been invited to a feast! Sometimes, we aren’t ready to accept that invitation. Sometimes we get too wrapped up and can lose sight of what is important. But we are invited to join Jesus at the table. And we must go out to the streets and share this invitation to all and be ready to welcome all who come. Luke 14-15 brings the invitation and several parables to remind us to hit accept and to ensure the message is shared with all.
