She graduated from the University of Toronto in 1997 with a double major in economics and industrial relations, and soon kick-started her career as a financial advisor with TD Canada Trust, later moving up the ranks to become a mortgage specialist in 2004. It was around that time that she discovered a passion for working with people and developed a knack for helping clients understand the many financial risks and opportunities they faced. “I fell in love with client relations and gained an appreciation for using smart mortgage planning as a powerful personal finance tool,” she recalls. An engaging approach and in-depth product knowledge came to define her competitive advantage. Joanna held the position until 2010, when she took a role as a Home Financing Advisor with Scotiabank. But it was in 2012 that she and husband Jason decided it was time to change professional course, setting out on a life-changing entrepreneurial adventure.
