Dr. Jay Joshi is a physician, entrepreneur, and author who was wrongfully convicted in 2018. He has since regained his medical license and become a national leader in the opioid epidemic. He has written a book about his experiences: Burden of Pain.
After reporting an employee who was forging scripts under his credentials to the local police, Dr. Joshi suddenly found himself at the center of an investigation led by the DEA. Over the following months, evidence was tampered with and statements were perjured, all of which resulted in a coerced plea and a sentence of 11 months in prison.
He fought to regain his medical license and reestablish his clinical practice while authoring legal briefs for prominent federal opioid cases, including the Supreme Court case, Ruan v. United States.
