Burger Bites

All Hail! Rance pulled off the rare feat of convincing "His Royal Highness" King Owens to sit down and talk for about 30 minutes. One of the busiest athletes you'll ever meet explains his career(s) on and off the baseball field, we get a glimpse into the workmanlike attitude he brought to the Moon City Mavericks, and we talk about King's future aspirations in the Grip 'N Rip Baseball League.

Tyler Jones took a knee during the playing of "The Star-Spangled Banner" before each Ozark Mountain Ducks baseball game in 2020. The Ducks won the GRBL championship, and Jones brought attention to issues African Americans face in the Missouri Ozarks.

On Sept. 4, 2020, a team named the Ozark Mountain Ducks took the field at U.S. Baseball Park for the first time in 16 years. Jones, the only black player in the Grip 'N Rip Baseball League, and two of his white teammates dropped to a knee in protest against disparate police brutalization of black people.

Springfield Metropolitans pitcher Chandler Veit's turnaround season ended in heartbreak in the 2020 GRBL championship game. The righty with a wicked curveball from Mansfield, Missouri, still had plenty of positive takeaways from his third season of Grip 'N Rip Baseball.

Tony Lewis almost gave up on professional baseball for good as he sat on a beach in Florida with his cleats on. Instead, he got on a plane for an overseas trip that would start an independent baseball odyssey and a journey of discovery that would later influence the formation of the Grip 'N Rip Baseball League in Ozark, Missouri.
