No country should have to protect itself as much as so many African nations have since the end of the second world war. Burkina Faso is experiencing the kind of aggression a nation at war would expect to face. Captain Ibrahim Traore has been the target of more than 21 assassination attempts. Where is all this aggression coming from? Many fingers are pointing towards the ‘democracy-loving’ west, as if hypocrisy needed a new name.
The endless promotion of war, hate, fear and aggression in order to create money to facilitate wealth for elites is a failed project. In the desperation of trying to push it through, the extreme right has decided to set fire to the world. Their efforts have been met with resistance. People no longer blindly believe their lies. We know the truth because we can see the truth.
Let us follow the torch of freedom carried by the people of Burkina Faso, and the youth from Kenya who rose up last year against their own government and set our own minds free.
As always, my special thanks to Esheru, your insight and perspective is always energising.
