Burn

Listen Later

Burn

Brand new fence, pretty flowers line a paver walk

Decorated for harvest a pumpkin and a corn stalk

Fresh mulch around the newly trimmed up trees

Two figures locking lips laying toes up in the breeze

Along comes a flame engulfing them no matter where they turn

Seems it was just a dream and now the whole thing starts to burn

Sunsets shared together, hand in hand out for a stroll

Celebrating life so happy they finally reached their goal

Looks in her eyes and he feels so warm and secure

Life couldn’t get much better, friend don’t be so sure

Along comes a flame engulfing them no matter where they turn

Seems it was just a dream and now the whole thing starts to burn

Burn your plans, there go your dreams

Burned to a crisp or that’s how it seems

Burn those aspirations, fueled with hope

Warm your hands over the embers, try to cope

But it all just burns

Along comes a flame engulfing them no matter where they turn

Seems it was just a dream and now the whole thing starts to burn

I stand there helplessly fighting fire with a garden hose

Too much for me alone I guess that’s just the way it goes

I won’t drop it and walk away, no not until I learn

Who torched my happy fantasy just to watch it burn
