Burnout in Midlife – The Mental Load We Don’t Talk About

Listen Later

Do you ever feel like your brain never gets a break? Like you’re managing work deadlines, household chores, kids’ schedules, stepmom responsibilities, and still trying to keep everyone else happy—while quietly falling apart yourself?

That invisible, never-ending checklist you carry around? That’s burnout. And for women in midlife, it’s showing up in powerful, painful ways.

In this solo episode, I’m diving into:

  • What midlife burnout really looks like (hint: it’s not just “being tired”)
  • How the stepmom experience adds another invisible layer of emotional labor
  • The heartbreak of showing up for others when they don’t always show up for you
  • The triple-threat of the “mental load” (physical, mental, and emotional tasks)
  • Signs you’re carrying too much—and what to do about it
  • Simple ways to check in with yourself, set boundaries, and put down some of that weight

Burnout doesn’t mean you’re failing—it means you’ve been doing too much, for too long, often without enough support. This episode is here to remind you that you’re not alone, and that it’s okay to prioritize yourself without guilt.
