Born the sixth of eight children in Birkenhead, Merseyside, Angela Roth had a happy childhood in a loving family. But at 11, everything changed. Attending a new high school without her siblings, she became the target of a small but powerful group of bullies. With no support from her only friend and too afraid to tell anyone, Angela felt isolated. Looking back, she knows her parents would have helped, but at the time, she believed the bullies’ cruel words—that she wasn’t worth believing.
For three years, the taunts, kicks, and lies continued until Angela was moved to a different class, starting her slow recovery. Distance from the bullies helped her realize she wasn’t what they said she was. As her self-esteem grew, so did her determination—no one would have that power over her again. Though challenges remained, she kept fighting until she finally broke free from the belief that anyone else could dictate her life.
Later, she was able to find that inner determination she needed to find her own way forward and joining the Police was part of that. It was a rich period of self discovery, and also of other discoveries that weren't perhaps quite so pleasant! But the one thing that grew in Angela during that time, was that we need to make 'all things work for our good', and that only by letting go of the negative, forgiving where we need to, can we truly do this.
Nowadays, Angela loves leading from the heart, following her intuition in business and being there to enable her clients to own who they are so they can lead those they are called to serve. The biggest learning for Angela has been that if you truly want to remain aligned with your values in your entrepreneurial journey, you need to let your heart lead. Only by listening to what your heart is saying, will you make decisions you'll continue to be proud of in the years to come.
Building a connection with the right clients is vital for the success of your business, but that connection has to be based on integrity, not on learned sales scripts written by those for whom the sale means more than the client. It is all too easy to fall into the trap of thinking you need clever sales scripts to convince people to buy your service - when in reality, the only thing you need is to fully believe in yourself and the change you can help your clients make!
