In this weeks episode, I'll be having a conversation with Ex army officer and Leadership Consultant Major Kate Philp.
Major Kate is an inspirational women! She's had a successful and long career in the army which led to her getting promoted to a major officer. She served on a number of trips to Afghanistan with the last trip not going to plan. This leads to her story which she tells me on the show. Major Kate was a commanding officer when her and her troops armoured vehicle got hit by an IED on a routine patrol.
This led to a number of casualties but also very sadly a fatality. Kate also suffered a very bad injury to her leg which led to her having to make a decision as to whether she was going to have her leg amputated, or keep it on. She took the bold decision to have it taken off and as part of her recovery, Kate set off on an expedition to ski over 200 miles, with a prosthetic leg, accompanied by others including Prince Harry. It really was a remarkable feat. She and her team endured temperatures of around -40c just to put it into perspective.
Kate goes into detail in the conversation, of the events leading up to the accident as well as the aftermath. She talks about how having a goal helped her to overcome her challenges and the resilience she needed to get herself back on track.
We also talk about her new career in Consulting, (Corran Consulting) where she is helping other business owners and people by teaching them leadership and management skills. We also spoke about her Keynote speaking which she is now being asked to do on a regular basis. If you ever get the opportunity to get to one of her events and here her speak. I would highly advise it.
