On this week’s show we are very lucky to be welcoming someone that has fit more into the last 20 years than most do in a lifetime. We have former pro sailor, global adventurer and wildlife conservationist Nick Bubb. To summarise what he has done in a paragraph isn’t really possible, so I've bullet pointed the main highlights below:
· Engineering degree from the University of Exeter.
· 10 years sailing all around the world professionally, including once around the world non-stop.
· Raced solo across the Atlantic, competed in the Volvo Ocean Race and many of the world’s biggest offshore races.
· For 4 years he was an investment manager for one of the UK's leading investment companies - Brewin Dolphin.
· Re-enacted Shackleton’s famous voyage from Antarctica to South Georgia, sailing across the Southern Ocean in a 23 foot wooden rowing boat wearing vintage clothing.
· For over 6 years now has been the Business Development Director at Fauna & Flora International- the oldest wildlife conservation organisation in the world. Working alongside the likes of vice-presidents Sir David Attenborough and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall in trying to preserve our planet and its inhabitants.
· Gave a very popular TEDx talk on the roles within modern wildlife conversation, see below.
· Was a parliamentary candidate for the Green Party in the 2019 General Election, returning the 11th highest vote share from all 485 candidates nationally.
· Along with all his sailing, has taken on masses of land based endurance events and expeditions, including Ironman and ultra-marathons, adventure racing and ultra-biking.
