Building a business is like planting a tree. An employee's life is completely different from being a business owner. When we plant a tree, we start by putting one seed into a pot. After that, you're always thinking about many things for your business. The same thing happens when you start a business.
You work and work but you feel there isn't any progress. Soon, you'll notice a small green thing growing from the soil. You keep on taking care of it until it grows to a good size. That's when you can carefully transfer the plant to the ground where it can grow into a tree.
When a business is healthy, every year you can enjoy the fruits. As the businesses grow, they'll do is to harvest the fruits of our labor. A business owner isn't assured of the same continuous flow of money.
“When the time comes, you’ll harvest all the sacrifices and hard work you’ve put into your business.” - Mommy Negosyo

Do you know that when you lower your price to kill your competitor, you are also killing yourself? Our first store was on the main road of the city. All around us were other stores selling the same products we did. At that discount rate, we were both losing money by selling below costs. To make up for our losses, I started to increase my selling price. I know that when we stopped at 50%, they also stopped fighting us. The only way both of us could get out of that situation and still stay alive was to stop fighting and collaborate.
Now, was that a happy ending? Of course, not. There will always be casualties. Don't aim to kill them, especially if you're new at the business. You might end up getting killed because they know the business more than you do. Never start a price war. And so, these are Mommy Negosyo's tips for you: When you give value to your customers, they'll buy from you and your sales will increase. Remember, it's not always about the price. Finally, know, really, really know why you are better than your competitors. And always communicate it to everyone: your customers, employees, and yourself.
“Competitors are not your enemies. Don't aim to kill them, especially if you're new at the business.”

Hi! This is Myrna Tam-Natividad, also known as Mommy N, because N is for Negosyo, meaning business here in the Philippines.
I’m super excited to be bringing you the Business Pinoy Podcast.
This show is for all the aspiring individuals who dreams of becoming a successful Business owner we’ll be going deep and diving into something that you don’t hear many other people talk about such as
So why should you listen? Great question…
What qualifies me to talk to you is the 30+ years I have suffered, failing in 20+ businesses before I became successful enough to retire.
Like most Filipina businesswomen, it was not because I was stupid, but it was because I did not have any live mentors.
I learned from seminars and books, and had to go through painful, expensive, and time-wasting trials and errors because the teachings are not applicable in our country.
This caused me to be buried in a big pile of business debts that threatened my marriage. Our kids were neglected. And I tried to kill myself several times as a way out but I failed again and again.
As I hit rock bottom, I begged and cried out to God for help and mercy.
The clarity and wisdom I got led me to the way out of the business maze. It allowed me to pay off our debts in just a few years and mended the once broken relationships that I had with my husband and children.
Now, in my 60s, my husband and I successfully turned over our businesses to our kids so that I can be with you as our Mommy Negosyo so that you don’t have to go through trial and error and commit the same mistakes as I did.
Make sure you follow the show from wherever you listen to podcasts, so you don't miss anything when we go live.
Let’s get started on this journey together.
Talk to you soon!
