As the Catholic Church beatifies Archbishop Fulton Sheen, Father Dave welcomes Allan Smith to help us learn more about this future saint through personal retreats. Allan is a member of the Advisory Board of the Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen Foundation in Peoria, Illinois, and has spent more than a decade helping preserve and promote Sheen's teachings through books, radio, conferences, podcasts, and media outreach. Allan's latest book of retreats based on Archbishop Sheen's teachings is called "The Soul of a Disciple: Fulton Sheen's Meditations on the Cross, the Eucharist, and the Christian Life."

A listener named Laura asks Father Dave for advice about fulfilling our Sunday obligation to attend Mass. "I feel bad, but sometimes I just don't care to go to Mass," she says.

A listener named Mike asks Father Dave about priests consuming the body and blood of Christ. "Father Dave said on the show [recently] that for a Mass to be valid, the priest has to consume both the body and blood of Christ — the bread and wine," Mike begins. "What happens if a Catholic priest is recovering from alcohol addiction or can't consume alcohol for medical reasons? Does he still have to consume the wine, or is there an exception in those circumstances?"

Father Dave welcomes Dr. Peter Howard to discuss Archbishop Sheen's life, legacy, and ways you can get involved. Peter is the founder and president of the Fulton Sheen Institute and the Fulton Sheen Movement.

This September marks 25 years since the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, and Father Dave welcomes Kevin Tuerff to inspire kindness leading up to this anniversary. Kevin is an author, speaker, and founder of the global charity Pay It Forward 9/11, which is dedicated to honoring lives lost and the heroes of this tragedy through random acts of kindness for strangers. His own story of that day is chronicled in the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical "Come From Away."

A listener named Kathy asks Father Dave about a recent reading at Mass. "A question came to me on Sunday during the Gospel. In the very last line, Jesus says 'don't tell anybody who I am,' and he says that a couple of times throughout the Gospels. I'm just curious as to why; one would think that he would want [the disciples] to tell people who he was, right?"

Father Dave welcomes licensed marriage and family therapist Tommy Tighe to discuss how Saint Dymphna can inspire those in the midst of depression. Tommy is the author of "I'm Depressed — Now What? Saint Dymphna's Guide to Building Your Depression Playbook."

A listener named Linda asks Father Dave about praying the Rosary. She asks, "When [praying] the Rosary, and we get to the Mysteries — are we just reading the Mysteries, or do we concentrate on the visual of the Mystery while saying the Hail Mary? Help!"

As we continue to commemorate 250 years of the United States of America, Father Dave welcomes author and journalist María Ruiz Scaperlanda to discuss Blessed Stanley Rother, an American on the path to sainthood. María is the promoter of his cause for canonization, author of his biography, and a contributor featured in the upcoming movie "American Martyr: The Stanley Rother Story" coming to theaters later this month.
