Story Transcript:

Sk: V dedinke, ktorej strechy boli pokryté snehom, sa konal každoročný kapustový festival.
En: In the village, where the rooftops were covered with snow, the annual cabbage festival was taking place.

Sk: Všetky domy dookola boli ozdobené farebnými stužkami a svetlami.
En: All the houses around were decorated with colorful ribbons and lights.

En: Cheerful villagers in thick coats gathered in the square.

Sk: V ovzduší panovala zima, no smiech a hudba dodávali atmosféru tepla.
En: The air was cold, but laughter and music added a warm atmosphere.

Sk: Marek, známy svojou hravosťou a občasnou nemotornosťou, bol nadšený.
En: Marek, known for his playfulness and occasional clumsiness, was excited.

En: The festival had its traditional contests, and Marek looked forward most to the cabbage-eating contest.

Sk: Bol pripravený statočne súťažiť, keďže sa chcel stať majstrom dedinského festivalu.
En: He was prepared to compete bravely, as he wanted to become the champion of the village festival.

En: When it was time for the contest, Marek hurried to the stand where an enormous cabbage was on display.

Sk: Bola to obrovská hlávka, väčšia než Marek kedy videl.
En: It was a giant head, bigger than Marek had ever seen.

Sk: Chcel ju lepšie preskúmať, a tak natiahol ruku.
En: He wanted to examine it more closely, so he reached out his hand.

Sk: Žiaľ, jeho ruka kĺzala hlboko medzi listy kapusty a – napodiv – zostala uviaznutá.
En: Unfortunately, his hand slipped deep between the cabbage leaves and, surprisingly, got stuck.

Sk: Marek začal panikáriť.
En: Marek began to panic.

Sk: Okoloidúci sa zastavovali, aby sa naňho s úsmevom pozreli.
En: Passersby stopped to watch him with a smile.

En: Zuzana, his best friend who always knew what to do, quickly rushed to him.

Sk: Najskôr sa začala trocha smiať, ale keď videla Marekov rozradostený smer, rýchlo zasiahla.
En: She started by laughing a bit, but when she saw Marek's anxious expression, she quickly intervened.

Sk: “Neboj sa, Marek,” upokojovala ho Zuzana, “vymyslím niečo.
En: "Don't worry, Marek," Zuzana reassured him, "I'll think of something."

Sk: ”Zuzana si všimla, že v blízkom stánKu predávali maslo.
En: Zuzana noticed that in a nearby stand, they were selling butter.

Sk: Požičala si trochu a začala ho nanášať na Marekovu ruku.
En: She borrowed a bit and started applying it to Marek's hand.

Sk: “Buď trpezlivý,” hovorila.
En: "Be patient," she said.

En: Marek stood there, his hand sticking out of the cabbage, and a crowd gathered to see this funny moment, which became the highlight of the festival.

Sk: Po pár minútach jemného kĺzania a troche nechcenej maslovej terapie, Marekova ruka sa konečne uvoľnila.
En: After a few minutes of gentle sliding and some unintended buttery therapy, Marek's hand finally slipped free.

En: The crowd started clapping, and Marek gratefully looked at Zuzana.

Sk: “Vďaka, Zuzana.
En: "Thank you, Zuzana.

Sk: Veľakrát som ťa podcenil,” povedal s úľavou.
En: I've underestimated you many times," he said with relief.

Sk: S úškrnom Zuzana odpovedala: “Pokoj, Marek.
En: With a smirk, Zuzana replied, "No worries, Marek.

Sk: Hlavne, že sme to zvládli.
En: The important thing is we managed it.

Sk: Ale nabudúce buď opatrný.
En: But next time, be careful."

Sk: ”Zvyšok festivalu si obaja užívali spolu, smiali sa a vtipkovali.
En: The rest of the festival, the two of them enjoyed together, laughing and joking.

Sk: Marek aj napriek všetkému, už plánoval svoju ďalšiu dobrodružstvo, no teraz už vedel, že niekedy je lepšie myslieť skôr, než niečo urobí.
En: Despite everything, Marek was already planning his next adventure, but now he knew that sometimes it's better to think before acting.

En: Yet his enthusiasm for life would never leave him.
