As the Oscars approach tonight, we give our predictions on who we want to win and who we think will get the awards. This past year saw many strong films hit the big screen, while some didn’t make the list of nominees, others will be showcased during one of the biggest events in film of the year.

It has finally arrived! 2018 was one of the strongest years in filmmaking, filled with original content, adaptations and a few nostalgic franchises that were dusted off. We sit down and talk about our top ten films of 2018, everything from “Widows”, “The Sister’s Brothers” and “Bad Times at the El Royale”. We discuss the films we loved and even make time to discuss a few disappointments of the year.

When Jake Gyllenhaal first came on to the acting scene he could have been categorized as an actor destined for big budget, hollow, movie roles, but he has taken a completely different creative path. During the early stages of his career he took on the role of Donnie Darko, which was a risk in itself for that time in Hollywood. In the past decade we’ve seen him take even more diverse and unique roles that are able to show his dedication and range. We sit down and talk some of the best Gyllenhaal roles and give our thoughts on the new Dan Gilroy film, “Velvet Buzzsaw”.

Before big budget superhero films were box office smashes, M. Night Shyamalan set out to create his own superhero universe with a realistic twist with “Unbreakable”. At the time we had no idea it was a universe until his follow up “Split” and now the conclusion of the series, or so it seems with “Glass”. When we think of up and coming directors and writers in the film industry, Yorgos Lanthimos is one of the names that is at the top of the list. As the filmmaker has transitioned his films for American audiences, they still maintain that dry and dark humor with a meaningful subplot. Fresh off seeing his new film, “The Favourite” in theaters we discuss his latest three films.

As Creed 2 arrives in theaters we run through the entire anthology of “Rocky” and the franchise spin off, “Creed”. This is one franchise that made it through the ‘80s with barely any black eyes sans the Tommy Gunn debacle and we discuss it all. From overconfident champions, street brawlers who want their shot and superhuman Russians, this franchise has everything. Apollo, this one is for you.

As Halloween comes to a close, we finish up the holiday horror season with a Stephen King classic, Silver Bullet. A film based on the short story “Cycle of the Werewolf”, we see how the film matches up to the source material. Witness Gary Busey in all his eccentric glory as he helps Corey Haim create a silver bullet and take on the local werewolf.

David Gordon Green’s “Halloween” has arrived in theaters and has received a generally positive response compared to the rest of the franchise. We sit down to discuss our thoughts, critiques and vent on our thoughts as the credits rolled. While it is pretty much a certainty that we will see the masked stalker back in another sequel the question becomes, where do we go from here?

Throughout the past decades of horror films we’ve seen many horror icons created into pop culture icons. Freddy, Jason and Michael Myers have solidified themselves on top of a “Slasher Mount Rushmore” of sorts. That fourth spot becomes more subjective and we are here to discuss it and if we will see another capable slasher posse or if Hollywood is dead set on remaking and rebooting the old gang for a new audience.

When John Carpenter created a simple story of an escaped mental patient stalking babysitters on Halloween night, no one knew the twists and odd turns this franchise would take. As we inch closer to the newest incarnation of Halloween hitting theaters, we take a look at the Halloween universe as a whole.
