We are spending the summer studying the book of 1st John. In our “By This We Know” series, we are exploring all the ways that John reassured us in his letter that we can know we have eternal life through Jesus Christ. John’s first epistle blends a spectacular balance of both making us feel loved and calling us to live to a higher standard. In today’s sermon, we study 1 John 3 and the promise of victory over sin. Sin and the follower of Jesus are not compatible. We have everything we need to overcome habitual sin in our lives through the love of the Father, the work of Christ, and the deposit of the Holy Spirit.
