In Luke 11 and 12, Jesus pulls back the curtain on the subtle heart-traps that sabotage our faith, divide our communities, and drain our spiritual momentum. It’s easy to point fingers at the historical "villains" of scripture, but Jesus shows us how those same destructive traits can quietly creep into our own lives. In today’s sermon, we expose the third of our four villains, The Hoarder, from Luke 12:13-34 and his plan for greed and self-reliance. The Hoarder entices us to worry and store up. Jesus calls us to trust and give generously. One depends on the Kingdom; the other depends on self.
