February 24, 2023 - Dennis Lab School principal Katie Meador, and Hilda Rice, Assistant Principal Mosaic Campus (original Dennis location), joined Byers & Co for the DPS Education Spotlight. 

Principals and staff have placed a large focus this year on ways to remediate and provide student academic support through unique instructional design work.

They also discuss IAR (Illinois Assessment of Readiness) for grades 3-8 taking place in March. These are the state’s learning standards for English Language Arts and Math. Dennis staff have been working hard to prepare students for the tests and trying to get parents more involved in providing support at home.

Also discusses is how BIST (Behavior Intervention Support Team) is providing support to students who are struggling with behavioral issues. It empowers staff with the resources to develop students' emotional awareness and positive coping skills to use in and outside the classroom.
