  • Season 2 Episode 7 – Wife Brains (The Business of Yoga) with Nancy Perry

This is episode 7 of our second season and WE FINALLY GOT HER: co-owner of BIG Power Yoga, Nancy Perry! She’s an inspiration to us as a leader, yoga teacher, and powerful badass woman overall. We also know her as a small business guru for growing her companies from idea seedlings to bustling, big, flourishing businesses, including the one we always talk about, BIG Power Yoga. • Season 2 Episode 6 – Not World Pieces; World Peace (The Illusion of Separation) with Janan and Maria

This is episode 6 of our second season and you get the opportunity to hear a wife-to-wife conversation! We discuss a topic Maria chose: the illusion of separation. It’s a pertinent topic in the era of Twitter wars (and real wars). We lay out our opinions on the table in the hopes of continuing to generate the conversation rather than say we are right and others are wrong. Check the episode out!

  • Season 2 Episode 5 – That Was God’s Work Right There (Religion and Yoga) with Jenny Noonan

This is episode 5 of our second season with our good friend and guest, Jenny Noonan aka @choosing.motherhood (you can read a great article she wrote this year about “mom guilt” here!). We talk all about how we reconcile religion with the practice of yoga and Jenny’s perspective is really powerful. This is a great listen for everyone and especially those who have questions about “yoga” in terms of religion and/or spirituality.

  • Season 2 Episode 4 – I Wipe My Tears with My Blanket (Anthropology of Yoga)

Welcome to BYOBlanket’s second season! This is episode 4 of our second season, and we have someone who is a BIG DEAL! Marlon Hall, everyone. He’s an anthropologist, yoga teacher, author, professor, father, and more–spending any amount of time with him is such a big upgrade to ours (and your) lives. Check out this episode in which we dive into the world of anthropology, how yoga relates to that, and the excavation work that it is studying humanity from the inside. Follow him on IG at @marlonfhall, buy his book Unearthing You, and check out his website at www.marlonhall.com.

  • Season 2 Episode 3 – Swans are Awful (Impermanence and Non-Attachment)

Welcome to BYOBlanket’s second season! In episode 3 of season 2, we are #blessed with guest Kelsey Konsen (@yogabalancehtx), corporate and private yoga instructor and ex-religion and philosophy university professor! Wow! In this episode, get ready to gain so many golden nuggets of wisdom from Kelsey as we discuss the topics of impermanence and non-attachment and how those practices can elevate our experience life — on and off the mat.

Plus, being a philosophical-inquiry conversation, you may finish the episode with even more questions than you began! (Which is our favorite way to ponder this crazy life we somehow all live…) Please check us out at Patreon.com/BYOBlanket and on IG at @byoblanket and be in the conversation with us. Happy listening!

  • Season 2 Episode 2 – Hashtag Namaslay (Yoga in the West)

Welcome to BYOBlanket’s second season! Episode 2 of season 2 we have mystery guest… Who is this mystery guest?! You’ll have to listen to find out! We talk about the stigma surrounding doing an ancient Eastern practice in a place like the United States. Side note: neither of us are white (Janan is half) so we think we’ve got an interesting perspective on this whole “cultural misappropriation” thing. Check it out!

  • Season 2 Episode 1 – Spiritual Frisbee (Yamas and Niyamas)

Welcome to BYOBlanket’s second season! This season, we are focusing our blanket fort conversations around something we are very passionate about: anything and everything yoga. Now listen, if you are currently “not into yoga” or “don’t like yoga,” we recommend giving these episodes a chance. Our intention is to delve into what yoga really is rather than what we all get on Instagram or at a gym. Not that either of those things are bad! They are simply a glimpse into a giant realm of really beautiful philosophy and discussion.

On the first episode of season two, we are proud to have Sarah Montross as our guest–a real Houston yoga celeb! Exclusively at BIG Power Yoga, Sarah is a renowned teacher not only for being able to do and teach incredible yoga asanas, but truly for teaching from the heart of yoga. She is committed to teaching the “why”s behind the poses in every single class and offers an awesome and essential flavor of yoga at BIG. She has decades of experience, learning from some of the world’s masters, and now you can hear her teachings on the most basic though most essential off-the-mat yoga: the yamas and niyamas.

Because it is such a huge topic, we did not cover it all, listeners! Look forward to Sarah coming back sometime to continue this spiritual frisbee of a discussion.

  • Episode 12 – To Be or Not To Be College Educated

Ah, the great college debate. Should you go to college and probably incur a lifetime of debt for a piece of paper, or should you persevere, find a way, and gain intellect, a degree, and patience? Join Janan and Maria along with Ana, Frank, Annalisa, and John as they reminisce over their glory days. Their discussion and debate gets heated in a lovely way, like when you come inside from a winter day and stand in front of the crackling fireplace.

Build your blanket fort, crawl in, and enjoy the show. Or cuddle up in a blanket. Or do whatever you want while you listen to an episode all about college.

  • Episode 11 – They Story and the MMA Kid

It’s not his story or her story — it’s they story. Despite this kinda terrible play on words, this episode is excellent because of our guest, Joshua Stokes. He’s a sociologist, comedian, and amateur historian who enlightens us all on the history of Haiti. Janan and Maria talk about their own historical interests. And we end with asking: why talk about the past at all?
