Byron Katie's "The Work" - A Process for Healing and New Possibility

In this episode, I demonstrate how you can apply "The Work", a process developed by Byron Katie, to beliefs that are causing you pain and suffering. It's a way of questioning your thoughts that demonstrates what a thought is costing you, and also gives you a new positive perspective you can choose to focus on going forward. 

In this "nature hike" episode, I apply it to a long-held, deeply-ingrained belief of mine.

*Vulnerability Alert* - talking about this made me deeply uncomfortable, but applying this process gave me relief and new possibility.  

He's the process of questioning your negative thoughts by Byron Katie:

First, state your thought or belief. Then ask yourself these four questions...

  1. Is it true?
  2. Can you absolutely know that it’s true?
  3. How do you react, what happens, when you believe that thought?
  4. Who would you be without the thought?

Once you've asked the questions, you do what's called a “turnaround,” which is a way to experience the opposite of what you believe.

This creates the new perspective you can move forward with.
