My friend claims to adhere to the constitution and I asked, where in the constitution does it say we are a Christian nation or even Jesus? Of course he didn’t have an answer because it’s obviously not there but one thing I noticed was his reliance on acts of Congress and some of the things they have done to try and rewrite history and one such example he used was the Congressional Bible or what is commonly referred to as the Aitken Bible which will be our topic of discussion in the episode of Skeptical Politics!

When atheist and theist get into arguments, the theist will eventually come out with this gem of a counter-argument “well, you can’t disprove God!” The typical atheist response is “you can’t prove a negative” or “you’re making the positive claim, so you have to provide the evidence for your god.” These are all well and good responses but what if we can disprove God, I mean definitely say, there is no God and no god could possibly exist? Is it presumptuous for the atheist to say this, will atheist be falling for the same dogmatic assertions we claim theist do? I’m here to tell you that you can disprove God’s or any supernatural deity's existence and in this episode I will take you through the steps and arguments, as well as the proofs so when you come in contact with a theist, you can lay the truth on them and send them to their pastor’s crying about how their faith has been destroyed. What I like most about doing this podcast is the opportunity or excuse to look into a new topics. I’ve received several comments saying that they appreciate the fact that I try to provide a balanced look at both sides of a topic. This doesn’t come easy and I have to actively look for counter arguments and put myself in their shoes.. I had a recent conversation on a friends Facebook page about science, the age of the earth and Dinosaur bones. I’m no paleontologist and neither is my friend nor was the person I was arguing with but with a little research and some digging, I was able to familiarize myself with the topic and this is what I’m going to discuss in this episode of C-Webb’s Sunday School!

Evolution, it’s a hot button topic even when it shouldn’t be. Creationist fear it because it undermines their faith and belief in their Bible and thus their god. Secularist barely understand it and take it for granted as scientific fact. Evolution is a fascinating and complicated topic and from what I have read and study, I can empathize with creationist but that doesn’t mean I agree with their conclusions. In this episode, I am going to share some of my thoughts on evolution and a conversation I had with a creationist friend over twitter about evolution. In this episode, I will continue examining William Lane Craig’s arguments for the empty tomb. In episode 41, I showed you how Craig’s first two arguments fall short when trying to explain the empty tomb using the Markan account. I also showed you that there is a perfectly good naturalistic explanation for the empty tomb, assuming a historical Jesus of course. I will now take you through four more of Craig’s arguments and show you once again how Craig falls short when arguing for a supernatural explanation for the empty tomb. I always enjoy a good debate between Christians and Atheist. After awhile though, I keep hearing the same arguments from Christians and it gets kind of old. So over the course of the next few episodes, I’m going to take a look at one of the fundamental arguments in the Christian apologist arsenal. The empty tomb of Jesus. If you listen to William Lane Craig debate, this is one of his most used “proofs” for the historicity of the resurrection of Jesus. But, like most proofs used by Christian apologist, this one falls short when you examine the claims more closely and this is what we’re going to look at for this episode of C-Webb’s Sunday School!

In the last episode I showed you how the first and second verses in Genesis are not only scientifically inaccurate but that they are so far removed from modern scientific thinking that anyone defending this position either does so out of ignorance or clever rationalization. I demonstrated that when interpreting Genesis within it’s proper historical context and within it’s original language, we get a pre-existing earth covered in water and God miraculously pulling forth dry land. This did two things. One, it showed God did not create something out of nothing and two, that this idea is patently absurd when it comes to modern scientific understanding. In this episode I will look at the second patently absurd notion contained within Genesis and prove once again the Genesis is not a scientifically accurate description of the origins of our world and that is the idea of a solid firmament surrounding earth. Creationist have an enormous uphill battle in trying to get their version of origins accepted by the scientific community. For starters, I have yet to see a single creationist put forth a prediction that could prove creationism. All I see is piggy backing on the work of real scientist, cherry picking data and misinterpreting the findings. And that is just the science part of creationism but what I find most interesting is the theological and scriptural aspect of creationism. If you listen to any creationism debate, the one thing you hear over and over again is that the Bible and specifically Genesis is scientifically accurate. What the Bible tells us is what science has undercovered over the course of human history. But, what if the scripture tells a different story? A story that directly contradicts scientific discovery? This is what we’re going to explore in this episode of C-Webb’s Sunday School!
