Dear, Summer II

So, yesterday we hit you with an Open Space where fresh faced producer Pi’erre Bourne breaks down how Playboi Carti ended up on the “Magnolia” beat. And what’s funny is that, this instrumental was floating around the net and it sounds like Carti’s first take on the beat was not with the consent of Bourne. In other words, it was a freestyle…at least until Pi’erre and Carti got together and recorded it officially. So, it kind of just feels right that we bring you another hungry rapper jumping on the track to show and prove.
Murda Mass, and specifically the city of Lynn, has been lobbing molotovs at the game all year. If you’ve been following the output of Lynn’s young gunner C Wells, you know he likes to demonstrate his skills by putting a completely different spin on a current hit record. Before he released his Don Cannon co-signed album, Before The Tour Bus, he had murked a bunch of 2016’s Summer bangers on his Dear Summer mixtape. It’s good to see that after rocking songs with big names like Dave East and G Herbo on his album, C is still willing to go in on one of 2017’s best beats for his fans. And on that note, expect Dear Summer II to drop any second now. You’re prolly already familiar with this unique beat, but we think Wells’ non-mumble rap version will make it sound brand new to you!
