Peter wants to encourage all believers that in difficult times, our hope is not in ourselves or our circumstances, it’s in the God of the universe. Suffering surprises us. Peter, however, surprises us with truths about suffering. God plans suffering for our joy and our good!

Peter tells us "the end of all things is at hand." We must therefore live like it's the 4th quarter with a focus on prayer, love, and hospitality that God might be glorified!

God vindicated Christ's suffering by raising Him from the dead, providing hope for the suffering Christian. The Gospel powerfully reminds us of the living hope we have received through the redemptive act of Christ and urges us to respond in faith.

Peter calls us to point people to Jesus in all relational contexts, even difficult ones. All believers should be living evangelistically, proclaiming Christ silently with our actions and boldly with our words because of the hope of our great salvation.
