The Pharisees were taken aback when they saw Jesus Disciples eating with defiled, dirty hands. This ceremonial cleansing was a long-held tradition among the Jews. When they asked Jesus about this “unclean” act, He responded by pointing out their adherence to the rules and traditions of man but how they ignored the much more important rules of God.
As we live our Christian lives, are we, both we as individuals and we as a church, more concerned by our traditions, customs, habits and conventions than with the more basic teachings from Jesus of love, compassion and understanding?
