For the first time in a long time, we actually have a little piece of music news to share: namely, that Beth Gibbons (of Portishead fame) is going to be coming out with a version of Gorecki’s 3rd Symphony. After that, we talk a bit about John Zorn’s preface to the essay series Arcana, as well as our own findings in our first Music Exploration on free jazz.

We've got some goodies lined up today: first off, we're talking about some recent purchases we made at Bull Moose in Portland (ME) a few weeks ago (which we recorded, but...they sucked, so here we are), Scott finally listens to a Beastie Boys album in full (with expected results if you listened to our last Unpopular Opinions episode), and we introduce a new segment about our respective album of the week. Opinions. We all have them, and sometimes we feel pretty alone with them, so today, we once again get just a little salty, and talk about our unpopular music opinions—oh, and Jimmy talks about some shit he bought, too, but, like, whatever.

Since we’re near the end of the year, we decided to start off with something silly, yet still endearing to us: the soundtracks to the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series of video games. From then on we move to more music-related subjects, including trying out the new Sons of Kemet album again, as well as our most anticipated albums for 2019. Have a Happy New Year, everyone!
