On the CAFE Insider docket this week:

– The appointment of Judge Raymond Dearie of the Eastern District of New York as special master to review the more than 11,000 documents seized from Mar-a-Lago;

– DOJ’s request for the 11th Circuit to freeze the district court order that blocked investigators from using the seized classified documents in furtherance of the investigation;

– Former President Donald Trump’s assertion, in media appearances, that he declassified the documents, and why Trump’s lawyers have not raised the declassification argument in court filings; and

– The reports signaling prosecutors are far from deciding whether to bring charges against Trump or his associates, despite indications that DOJ’s investigation into January 6th is accelerating.
