Mother’s Day may have been a week ago, but it’s never a bad time to celebrate mums. Fran interviews her Italian mama about her favourite Australian movies and Marcus psychoanalyses his mum through the lens of her favourite film. Then we dive into discussing our six movie picks that celebrate the diversity of mothers, including those that kill their enemies; snort coke; abandon their babies; get hammered with their nanny; and get into fights with cats.
The episode that almost didn't happen! This one is coming out more than a week after ANZAC day due to unexpected audio issues that made editing it a real pain in the arse - so much so, we almost gave up. But we didn't, we fixed it up, and we are back to talk about 6 movies from Australia and New Zealand (with many more suggestions thrown in throughout). So enjoy once again as the Calendar Cunts arbitrarily relate movies to holidays.
On the third day, Fran and Marcus finally finished editing, so that all who listened may have eternal life. On this Easter episode of Calendar Cuts, we talk about two movies featuring giant bunny rabbits, three movies packed to the brim with crucifixions, and the movie adaptation of the life, death and resurrection of the saviour himself - Eric Draven.
Fran and Marcus celebrate St. Patty's Day the traditional way - by talking about psychic snake handlers, brawling travellers, and a poor little boy named Francie who nobody gave a chance. Grab a bottle of Jameson and join us for some more movies vaguely, just barely, kind of but not really related to St. Patty's Day.
Happy International Women's Day! Marcus and Fran pick 3 movies each that deal with the themes and issues that International Women's Day is meant to call attention to. Join us as we talk about suicidal virgins, Karen Carpenter, a pole dancing cop, bank robbing cheerleaders, backstabbing actors and a lot more!
Calendar Cuts, a podcast about movies tangentially related to holidays, celebrates Valentine's Day for the debut episode. Join hosts Marcus Kovesi and Fran Smith as they discuss some very unromantic movies about putrefying dead lovers, a stalker more annoying than dangerous, a girl who simply loves her daddy and more. Kiri kiri kiri.
