About six months ago we began building a multi-functional building on our land. We needed a structure to hold the water tank as well as future solar panels. In an effort to stack as many functions as possible we also included a small toolshed at the main level of the water tower and here is the resulting building!

This toolshed was something we worked on during weekends and afternoon sessions. Sometimes we had to wait for materials to arrive, the rain to pass, or simple were working on other aspects of the homestead. Everything takes time and I am glad we put the time, effort, and vision into this project.

Nothing is cozier than a rainy day with a cup of tea and a few cute kitties for company. I am so grateful to live in a solid house that keeps the rain out. From the window my cats and I enjoy the sight of my front yard garden being watered by the passing storm.

When the rain lightened up a bit I went out for a walk while clouds above sprinkled. The ginkgo and maple trees held on to the rain on their leaves and my hair was made frizzy and curly from all the humidity.

Though the power went out I was still able to record a bit of this natural magic on my phone and created a little short to share the moment with you all.

This year I made a goal to share more short form videos about the building of our tiny house. This one was meant to show what we got up to last week and ended up being a little bit of my "natural building philosophy".

This holiday season I came across some opposing attitudes about ecological living. Namely a friend who is strongly against interacting with the forest for fear of destroying it. On the other hand she buys bags & bags of soil for her work in a nursery. And those are plastic bags I might add. I adore her & truly appreciate the work she does but just can't get behind some of her philosophies about what is and isn't ecological.

It gets reallt complicated when the topic of natural building is broached. We want to live in harmony with nature and personally I don't think I can do that while living in an apartment in the city. For this build we have to buy wood that isn't cultivated in the most mindful way. But, whenever possible, we take the time to mindfully collect the materials abundant in our zone. And that is a compromise I can live with.

After a few days of trains, planes, and long walks I am back in Argentina and enjoying the enchantment of summertime. Not by going to events or even visiting natural sights, but rather, I am living the energies of summer from the comfort of my own front yard.

It is simple really. The sun in shining, the days a long, I am finding so much joy in drinking tea and reading my books outdoors. I wanted to share with you all a bit of that magic in the from of a threeshort video.

So, here it is. The tea I made was orange peel, rose petals, and hawthorn blossoms. The book I am reading is "del Cerpo a las Raices" by Pabla Perez, Ines Cheuquelaf, and Carla Cerpa.

During my last days in California my sister, her boyfriend, and I took a walk along the coast of San Diego. It had been so long since I was able to soak up the ocean vibes and I don't know when exactly I will be able to again.

In years past I gathered a bottle of sea water or a special shell with which to remember the sea. This year I decided to make a short from video that I can look back upon whenever I need those nautical vibes.

What unique crafts are you taking with you in 2025?

For me this is, of course, the art of making zines! and today I wanted to share another short video behind the scenes of my booklet making practice.

From writing to designing then later formatting and printing, I am invovled in each and every step of the creation of my zines and ... I wouldn't have it any other way!

And though this is a very analog type of art, I want to keep the world of zines feeeling dynamic even in this modern world of digital everything. That is why I have challenged myself to create short form content about my zine making. I hope to inspire others to transform their words, art, and ideas into physical form by showing them just how simple zine making can be!

I never wanted to turn into the type of artist who works entirely digitally. The whole reason I got into art was the tactic experience. I love to create booklets, collages, and even sew.

But, if I am honest, making phyiscal products has never been so much of a money maker. Personally, I have had more success as a creator of online content than as a sewer or crafter. In a way this is very sad and but, I am not going to cry about it. Being creative is all about conserving the ability to adapt to the changing times, right?

So, I have found a middle road. I create content about crafting

Many, or maybe even most, of the posts I share here on HIVE are about the processes of gathering herbs for tea, preparing skin care products, and binding my art & knowledge into small booklets that I call zines.

While I do sell about one of these every week via my Etsy shop, my real motivation for making zines is to keep this art form alive rather than make money off of them. The dollars I do make per sale goes towards the paper & ink I use to make them, trade them, and spend time dreaming up future projects.

So, here is a little behind the scenes of my zine making process a few weeks back while I was still in Argentina.
