Suz and Esther discuss their approaches to seasons of waiting. COVID has been a time of uncertainty and disrupted the plans we created for 2020. It can be difficult to navigate times where we are waiting indefinitely for an outcome that is unknown. Suz and Esther provide some suggestions on constructive ways to use this period of time.

Suz and Esther follow on from the discussion of busyness in episode 7. We discover that our faith and relationship with God is central to attaining effective rest. However, scrolling social media or watching TV are frequently substituted as easier, yet less effective methods to rest and recharge. The call convo concludes with a pledge to incorporate intentional time within our week to spend time with God and to rest well. 

Suz and Esther try out a more spontaneous episode format. We discuss what it means to be busy and the dangers of glorifying busyness on our physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.

There is no formula to making new friends. However, with a dose of serendipity, shared interests/faith and a dollop of vulnerability, Suz and Esther have uncovered some principles of friendmaking. We also acknowledge the physical/emotional capacities for allowing new people into our lives. Leave us a question for our Q&A episode!

Suz and Esther discuss their experiences of living by themselves, boarding as a homestay and living with friends. We discuss the importance of setting expectations and open communication. Living with others is a wonderful experience and we hope our experiences, as well as amateur advice, will also help you bring out the joy and fun in your current living situation.

Suz and Esther discuss the difficulty of dealing with feelings of loss in the midst of moving toward an exciting next stage of life. Our bittersweet emotions were discussed in the context of the 5 stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance. We hope that our experiences will show you that grief is a normal part of life transitions and you are not alone. 

Suz and Esther moved out of their parents’ homes in Melbourne over a year ago. Due to COVID-19, we moved back home prematurely. The last few months at home were predominantly filled with positive experiences, however, there were also some unexpected challenges. We learnt how to truly serve our family, grow in grace and patience, as well as appreciating the privilege of coming home to warm, loving family members.
