Welcome to episode 52 of Call Me Donovan. This will be another clip show as you’ll see the bullet points below from the episode. Thank you for tuning in!---- I'm Donovan, and this is episode 52 of *Call Me Donovan.*- This is a "clip" episode, made up of segments I've recorded over time.- I usually record these segments while walking up and down the driveway in the mornings to get some exercise and enjoy the air.- As of today, Friday, September 20th, 2024, I’ve been 482 days alcohol-free – go me!- We just got back from dropping Tyler off at Valdosta Airport, and he's now on his way back to Washington state.- There's not much more to say in this intro, but you can leave comments at callmedonovan.com/52, unless I forget to create the redirect.- I hope you enjoy the clips from the past week, and I hope you and your loved ones are doing well.- I’m enjoying my morning walk with coffee; it’s Friday the 13th, humid, and rain is expected later today.- We had rain from Francine passing by, but not directly over us; hoping the rain holds off for our grocery trip.- Frustrated with Walmart employees’ reluctance to load groceries in light rain, but I get it during heavy downpours.- A roll-off container is arriving today, and I’ll spend the weekend cleaning out 18 years’ worth of accumulated junk from the shop.- I’ve relaunched the *South Geek News* podcast with Ben Rayberg, focused on tech news for everyday users. It’s now on Apple Podcasts.- I dream of converting part of my shop into a full podcast studio, but it’s costly, and right now, I only record in-person with Ben.- I love the energy of in-person podcasting, even though remote recording has come a long way since I started in 2011.- Twit has mostly gone remote, and I miss their old studio days. It reminds me how much I value in-person interaction.- The cleanup project is satisfying, creating more space, and I’m fine with spending around $300 for the container.- My son Tyler is visiting, but he’ll leave soon to fly back to Seattle. I’ll miss our spontaneous technical conversations in person, even though we stay in touch remotely.- Since Tyler isn't here for the holidays, we decided to have a pseudo-Thanksgiving lunch.- Earlier, I bought a small spiral ham from Walmart, which was delicious, and I wanted Tyler to try it.- We expanded the meal to include dressing, cranberry sauce, mac and cheese, and my favorite seasoned field peas.- We opted to crockpot the ham this time, making a brown sugar au jus, and it's been cooking since Friday.- Tyler and Oriana visited Lee's parents and his aunt in Fitzgerald, which is rare, as we don’t see them often.- While Tyler is here, we're also replacing the ceiling fan in his room, part of ongoing house improvements.- The roll-off container cleanup project is done, and they picked it up, billing me around $276 as expected.- Internet service might improve with fiber installation, though it’s uncertain when that will happen.- I upgraded my phone to iOS 18, but RCS capability doesn’t matter much to me since I primarily use Signal to communicate.- Day 481 of my alcohol retirement journey; continuing separation of concerns with my podcasts.- I’ve started a new political podcast called *Good Talk, America!*, focusing on politics, the economy, and kitchen table issues.---Contact Informationemail: [email protected]/Insta/Threads: donadkisson(When played) Music generated by Mubert https://mubert.com/render---AffiliatePrivate Internet Access VPN
