Call on the Name of the Lord | Romans 10:5-13

Listen Later

Summary: No matter how hard we try, you and I can never live a perfect life. We cannot stand before God on our own merit. Thankfully, there is another way to stand in the day of God’s judgment. And it’s not by doing all sorts of things to elevate ourselves to heaven. Paul tells us in this passage that it is not at all about what we do for God, but what God has done in Christ for us! Key Points:

  1. Human inability to attain righteousness through obedience to the law.
  2. The contrast between righteousness based on the law and righteousness based on faith in Christ.
  3. The necessity of confessing with one's mouth and believing in one's heart for salvation.
  4. Salvation as a gift of grace through faith in Jesus Christ's finished work.
  5. The universal availability of salvation to all who believe, regardless of background.

Key Bible Verses:

  • Romans 10:9: "because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
  • Romans 10:13: "For 'everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.'"

Main Message: Salvation is not about our efforts to obey the law but about trusting in Jesus Christ and His work for our righteousness. Confessing Jesus as Lord and believing in His resurrection are the foundational steps to salvation, which is available to all who believe, regardless of their past or background.
