  • Episode 2: When God Flips Your World Upside Down

Episode 2: Don't Stay Stuck | Grief, Honesty, and the New Thing God Is Doing

Welcome to Episode 2 of Called and Unshaken, a podcast about identity, healing, and what it looks like to let God put you back together after life's storms have rearranged everything.

If life has handed you something you didn't ask for, this episode is for you.

Marzette opens with the night she lost her husband Aaron to a brain aneurysm and the declarations she made in the dark: even if God didn't heal, He was still a healer. Even if He didn't deliver, He was still good. From there she tells you what this show is (and isn't), shares the messy middle of grief that doesn't make the highlight reel, and explains why God sometimes flips your world upside down, not to destroy you, but to get the Egypt out of you.

    In this episode:
    • The declarations that carried Marzette through the worst night of her life
    • What this show is, and what it is not
    • Grief beyond loss: grieving past relationships, lost expectations, and even good seasons that end
    • The "numbing" phases of grief, and why you're not broken, you're human
    • The two things that brought Marzette through: staying transparent with God and staying close to people who tell you the truth
    • Isaiah 43:19: why we can't perceive the new thing while gripping the old
    • Renewing your mind with God's Word and calming your nervous system
    • Truths that hold no matter the shape of your storm (not platitudes)
    • A preview of what's coming: who God says you are, and forgiveness as a survival skill

    Scripture referenced:
    Isaiah 43:19 | Proverbs 24:16 | John 16:33

    Your question for this week:
Sit somewhere quiet and ask yourself: "What is the thing I am most afraid to bring to God right now?" You don't have to answer out loud or do anything with it yet. Just name it.

  • The Storm Isn't The End

Welcome to the very first episode of Called and Unshaken, a podcast of faith and hope for the woman standing in front of a storm and wondering how she'll get through it.

The storm in front of you isn't the end. Jesus is the way through, and He knows the way out.

In this episode, your host Marzette shares her heart for the podcast and some of her own story: losing her first husband after seventeen years of marriage, rebuilding her identity from the ground up, and watching God's faithfulness show up in every season since. Then she takes you to the first oasis in Scripture, Marah in Exodus 15, and the choice Israel faced there that we all face in our own dry places.

    In this episode:

    • Why every dry season is an invitation, not abandonment
    • The two choices at every dead end: complain or seek God
    • How Jesus is our living water and our Oasis in every season
    • The lie of building your security on your plans, titles, or circumstances
    • Why real security has a name: Jesus Christ
    • What it means to face trials and come out unburned

The lie: My security and identity come from how I expected my life to look.
The truth: Security has a name, and it's Jesus Christ.

    Scripture referenced: Exodus 15:22–27

Reflection for this week: Notice what you're building on. Bring it to God honestly, not the polished version you tell everyone, and see what it feels like to let Him hold your future.
