Haunted House time! Today we are talking about Sarah Winchester and her infamous legacy and house. Show of hands: who's been to the house?? Also show of hands who thinks the name of the house should be The Winchester Mystery Mansion not house?? What a missed opportunity for alliteration...*sigh.

Anyway, Jess gives us the backstory of Sarah's life and Cait talks us through the myth and legends of the House itself. So much to talk about so let's get into it.

Welcome back!!!! Season 2 kickoff

Today we had the opportunity to meet and interview Brandon Hodge and what an amazing guest. We will be definitely be having a part II for Brandon to come back and talk to us all about Ouija and the history of talking boards, but today we are all about the Planchette and apparently automatic writing! Hope yall enjoy this episode as much as we did.

Brandon Hodge is a collector, author, researcher and entrepreneur. Always fascinated by the bizarre world of tipping tables, seances, and ghost hunts, Brandon has spent years researching spirit communication devices and the early history of the Spiritualist movement. He added his first automatic writer to his shelves--a boxed E.I.H. Scientific Planchette, and he has since amassed the world's finest collection of writing planchettes.

Brandon currently lives in Austin and by day, he runs his stores Monkey See, Monkey Do and Big Top Candy Shop.

Most of his weekends are spent scouring flea markets, antique fairs, and old homesteads in Texas, while maintaining an international network of collectors, dealers, and researchers ever on the hunt for the next item or clue that will add the next important piece to their puzzle.

Today we get a crash course in Proto-Indo-European and Slavic spiritual practices and learn why the days around the winter solstice are called the Wolf Days.

We are joined by Dr. Patricia “Robin” Woodruff. She is the author of Woodruff's Guide to Slavic Deities, The Call of the Spectacled Owl: An Artist’s Journey thru History, The Amazon and the Spirit,  Strange Tales of Floyd County, VA, and Slavic Magic Moon Meditations. Don't miss her books geared towards children to teach them about the ancient beliefs, The Prince with the Golden Hand; Book 1 of Baba’s Secrets of the Old Ways.

You can find her youtube series that we mention in the episode https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42bowEaK0Gs&t=7s

Or you can go through all her videos https://www.youtube.com/@PatriciaRobinWoodruf

We learned so much from Robin and will need to have her back on to teach us so much more.
