February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. This episode serves as an opportunity to consider the roles youth and their support systems can play in addressing this pervasive violence. Terana Boyd and Danielle Rains join “Calling Attention to Prevention” to provide insight on these topics as parents and professionals.
Terana, a Pittsburgh native who now calls Cincinnati home, is a passionate advocate for her community. As a mother of three (ages 18, 16, and 7), she understands the importance of providing tangible resources to uplift forgotten voices. Fueled by her own experience navigating challenges in foster care, Terana dedicates herself to empowering others with limited support. Drawing on her diverse experiences, Terana serves as the Director of Community Engagement & Programs at Seven Hills Neighborhood Houses. In this role, she champions initiatives that directly impact her community. Additionally, she serves as the secretary for FOUND House IHN, a Public Notary, and a business owner. However, Terana's dedication extends beyond her professional roles. She is a Public Ally alum and a school board school alum, she served on Roslawn Community Council and Parents for Public School of Greater Cincinnati demonstrating her unwavering commitment to public service. Her focus has always been on providing concrete resources to those who need them most. Terana's drive stems from her firsthand understanding of overcoming obstacles with limited resources. This fuels her tireless efforts to advocate for and empower marginalized communities in Cincinnati. When not working, Terana cherishes time with her family, venturing on adventures through travel, and savoring delicious meals. Ultimately, she finds joy in moments of freedom and connection with loved ones.
Danielle Rains has been a School Counselor for 4 years and works exclusively with students experiencing homelessness in Cincinnati Public Schools. Every year she works with Women Helping Women to provide healthy relationship content to a group of students through their Prevent and Empower curriculum.
