La Foto Gallery is pleased to host a very special guest of honor, Barbara Gluck, who is one of only three
women photographers to cover the Vietnam War. She worked for The N.Y. Times (1968-69/1972-73).
Barbara is an award winning photojournalist, art photographer, speaker, writer and healing facilitator.
Her own life experiences have catapulted her way out of the box, as she uniquely merges art and spirit for
the creation of a new paradigm. Her photography has been in Museum and Gallery shows around the world.
The J.P. Getty Museum recently purchased a large portfolio of her vintage Vietnam prints for their permanent collection,
and included one of her photographs in a prestigious exhibit called “Pictures for The Press” -- representing the 35 most powerful icon images of the most important historic events between 1940-70’s.
Barbara was the only photographer (and certainly the only woman) to:
* fly a 14 hour B-52 bombing mission over North Vietnam, from the Strategic Air Command Base in Guam.
All of these were NY Times assignments that she initiated. She was interested in covering the war in ways and in places it was not commonly covered. Her courage to risk was always present.
