Charmin Smith is a Stanford alum, former WNBA player and coach, and the current head coach of the Cal women’s basketball team. In her ongoing efforts to reach and connect with fans and alumni, Smith hosts a typically light weekly segment on the team’s Instagram account. But instead of silly socially distant birthday surprises or introducing fans to future Golden Bears, the tone of last Saturday’s chat was somber following the murders of three more black Americans and a difficult meeting with her student-athletes.
