Matthew 6:25-34 is a Sermon by the King himself - Our Lord Jesus Christ who addresses the SIN OF WORRY. If regrets and worries lead to self-destruction then let us be encouraged Church that Jesus wants us to come to HIM in repentance and enjoy restoration and rest in HIM.

The Sermon on the Mount is the message of new king who has come, speaking about a new Kingdom and Is a point of entry for the kingdom, the citizens of this Kingdom are supposed to have qualities different from what the world would expect.  The Beatitudes helps us understand that God wants us to be blessed not in a material sense, but to be in a state where we are intrinsically content. Be like Jesus in that aspect, which is the true characteristic of a believe

Nicodemus a Pharisee and a member of the Sanhedrin came to Jesus at night, acknowledging him as a teacher sent by God (John 3:2). Jesus tells him that if he is to enter God’s kingdom, he cannot get there naturally, through what he can do. Only the supernatural work of God’s Spirit in making us new — so new that it is a rebirth — can accomplish our salvation. All this is explained by the most famous verse in the Bible, John 3:16.

Have you ever been there, in the gloom of despair and defeat when all your expectations exploded in your face? We don’t know what Elijah was expecting. With the power of God so clearly manifested perhaps Elijah thought there would be some change in Ahab, some positive response with the result there were going to be changes in the kingdom of Israel. We aren’t told. We can only guess. But something really shattered Elijah’s focus and his faith. Let’s look at the text and see what we can learn.

The Old Testament ends on a note of promise, that God would send Elijah to prepare the people for their coming savior, the Messiah. This Elijah turns out to be John the Baptist, who prepares the people by teaching them about repentance. Much to their surprise, the people learned that being born Jewish was of no advantage, and that they too had to learn that they have nothing of value to offer God if they are to enter his kingdom.

Thread of God’s program for the ages – We see God moving not only among Israel but even among the nations to fulfil his ultimate plans. We see His total control of all things.  The period between Malachi and the Gospels covers a period of 400 years and is often called  “The 400 Silent Years” or “The Intertestamental Period”. The first prophet to appear publicly proclaiming the Word of God after this period was John the Baptist proclaiming “Repent, for the kingdom of God is at hand”. Many flocked to John because there was a yearning for God’s word after the 400 silent years.   The Foundational Books (The Gospels -Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) – each book presents a different facet of the Lord Jesus. Jesus is the one the OT points to. He is the fulfillment of much prophecy. He is the foundation of the New Covenant and the Church (1 Cor. 3:11, Eph. 2:20).
