Saul's sin catches up to him as he consults a medium because he did not hear God. Sin always catches up with us and drags us further down. The only way to be free from sin and the penalty is to put your faith and trust in Jesus.

Despite all his faith and trust in God, David is still human and falls into depression- he turned his eyes from God. Yet in that wilderness God was able to use him and shape him. God may be using your wilderness or trial to shape you, so do not despair!

David shows tremendous faith and trust in God and does not kill Saul when he is given another opportunity. We must never forget that God is faithful, even when His promises seem so far away.
