I. WE MUST LEARN TO PRAY
Luke 11:1 NKJV Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, [that] one of His disciples said to Him, "Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.”
II. WE DON’T RECEIVE BECAUSE WE DON’T ASK
James 4:2b NKJV Yet you do not have because you do not ask.
III. WE NEED TO PRAY EFFECTIVELY
James 5:16b NKJV The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
IV. WE NEED TO PRAY CONTINUALLY
Acts 12:5 NKJV Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church.
V. WE ARE TO BE PERSISTENT IN PRAYER
Luke 18:1 NKJV Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart, also (Isaiah 62:6-7)
VI. WE ARE TO TURN OUR CARES INTO PRAYERS
Romans 10:1 NKJV Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved.
VII. WE ARE TO PRAY ABOUT EVERYTHING
Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
VIII. WE ARE TO PRAY IN THE SPIRIT
Jude 1:20 NKJV But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,
IX. PRAYER IS TO BE OFFERED IN FAITH
James 1:6-8 NKJV 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 [he is] a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
X. PRAYER IS THE DECIDING FACTOR
Ephesians 6:18 (NKJV) praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints--
