Calvary Chapel Elk Grove-The Book of Galatians (2023-25)

21. Galatians 4:5-9 Liberty From Law-Part 20

Topical Series

Pastor Phil Ballmaier

Calvary Chapel Elk Grove

6-16-24

Pastor Phil of Calvary Chapel normally teaches the Bible verse-by-verse, but we are taking a topical approach to The Book of Galatians. Today we are in Part 20 of "Liberty From Law" and the "Purpose of The Law".

As Pastor Phil moves through Chapter 4 of Galatians, we will explore what Paul meant about us being sons (and daughters), and heirs of God through Christ. Once we have been adopted by God into His family through Christ, He becomes our 'Abba' Father.

Paul had travelled through Asia Minor, and when he arrived in Galatia he realized they had already fallen away from the teachings of the Gospel of grace. The Judaizers were a group of Jews who tried to put the Church back under the Law by telling people it was necessary for them to keep the Law of Moses before exercising faith in Jesus for salvation. Jesus came to set us free from sin and the Law...

19. Galatians 3:26-29 Liberty From Law-Part 18

Topical Series

Pastor Phil Ballmaier

Calvary Chapel Elk Grove

6-2-24

Pastor Phil of Calvary Chapel normally teaches the Bible verse-by-verse, but we are taking a topical approach to The Book of Galatians. Today we are in Part 18 of "Liberty From Law" and the "Purpose of The Law".

You often hear people say, "we are all children of God." But this is only predicated on one truth, being in Christ.

In today's verses, Paul points this out. "For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ." We are made heirs to approach the throne of God through Christ, and Christ alone.

18. Galatians 3:19-25 Liberty From Law-Part 17

Topical Series

Pastor Phil Ballmaier

Calvary Chapel Elk Grove

5-26-24

Pastor Phil is teaching the Epistle of Galatians topically. Calvary Chapel normally teaches verse-by-verse, but we are taking a topical approach to this wonderful book. Today we are in Part 17 of "Liberty From Law" and the "Purpose of The Law".

One big question is, are Christians still under the Law? The answer is no. The Law was our tutor or teacher, but it has been fulfilled by the coming of Christ and His fulfillment of the Old Covenant. We now live under the New Covenant.

Did true freedom and a relationship with God come through Jesus, or through The Law? Are we required to meet the 613 mosaic laws/commands in the Bible to be accepted by God? Or one? The Savior—Who made a way by His sacrifice on the Cross? Let's continue to dive into that question with Pastor Phil.

Grasping and applying the fundamentals of the True Gospel are essential in being able to withstand the subtle or profound onslaughts against God's truth and to share the Gospel with the lost. Are you equipped and ready? Can you give a clear and Are you equipped in defending the hope that is in you?

Pastor Phil is teaching the Epistle of Galatians topically. Calvary Chapel normally teaches verse-by-verse, but we are taking a topical approach to this wonderful book. Today we are in Part 16 of "Liberty From Law" and the "Purpose of The Law".

One big question is, are Christians still under the Law? The answer is no. The Law was our tutor or teacher, but it has been fulfilled by the coming of Christ and His fulfillment of the Old Covenant. We now live under the New Covenant. Unfortunately there were groups in biblical times (Paul's day) and some groups today who want to embrace the Law and add to the law of Grace by placing themselves back under the law, like the Hebrew Roots Movement. Gleaning things from Judaism and attempting to co-mix these ideals with Christian doctrine.

Today Pastor Phil also touches on the keeping of the Sabbath—a topic that he often receives questions on.

Grasping and applying the fundamentals of the True Gospel are essential in being able to withstand the subtle or profound onslaughts against God's truth and to share the Gospel with the lost. Are you equipped and ready? Can you give a clear and Are you equipped in defending the hope that is in you?
