Calvary Chapel Elk Grove-The Book of Romans (2023-2026)

26. Romans 2:11-13

Calvary Chapel Elk Grove

Pastor Phil Ballmaier

8-16-23

Tonight Pastor Phil continues in Chapter 2 of Romans.

We know that we serve a true and righteous God, and one day He will judge all men and women according to their deeds. Those who chose willfully to live their lives apart from God and His perfect will shall stand condemned at the Great White Throne Judgment. While those who have been covered by the precious blood of Jesus are already redeemed.

Paul chose Rome for a reason when he went out to preach. Firstly, because God had sent him, but because Rome was a central 'point of the world' as 'all roads lead to Rome'. So if he shared the Gospel there, whomever received it would carry God's Word, and the testimonies of Paul and the work they'd seen done out into the four corners of the world.

Often referred to as the Gospel according to Paul, and the greatest book ever written, Paul's letter to the Romans will become our focus as Pastor Phil continues to lead us through the Word of God.

25. Romans 2:7, 10

Calvary Chapel Elk Grove

Pastor Phil Ballmaier

8-9-23

Tonight Pastor Phil continues in Chapter 2 of Romans and describes what a true believer looks like.

A true believer is known by their fruit. It's the result of a transformed life with God, not a requirement (or list of good deeds) to spend eternity with Him. A believer who understands that we are just sojourners, or pilgrims here, and whose focus is not on the temporary, but the eternal has the correct mindset.

One day we all want to hear, "Well done, My good and faithful servant." This response from The Lord will not come because of our good deeds, but because of the grace and mercy we received from Jesus and the finished work at the Cross.

Paul chose Rome for a reason when he went out to preach. Firstly, because God had sent him, but because Rome was a central 'point of the world' as 'all roads lead to Rome'. 24. Romans 2:6

Calvary Chapel Elk Grove

Pastor Phil Ballmaier

8-2-23

Tonight Pastor Phil continues in Chapter 2 of Romans.

God is holy and righteous, and our heart's desire should be to be more and more like Him every day... The Lord calls us to examine ourselves, and surrendering ourselves to the transformative power of His Spirit. We shouldn't compare ourselves to others as our standard. The only standard we should measure ourselves by is Jesus, our Righteous God. Each man or woman will be giving an accounting for his or her deeds.

7-26-23

Tonight Pastor Phil turns his focus to Chapter 2 of Romans.

Isn't it true that we tend to compare ourselves to others—particularly when it comes to our sin? And our sin tends to look much worse when others are committing them. The Lord calls us to examine ourselves. Should we look to others and compare ourselves to them as our standard for righteousness? Indeed not! The only standard we should measure ourselves by is Jesus, our Righteous God.

When we choose to look at others sins, we tend to be much harsher, condemning and judgmental. . The Apostle Paul brings it out here in Romans 2. There is only One Judge.. Keep in mind when you point a finger at others, you have three fingers right back at you! In other words—keep your eyes on Jesus!

Paul chose Rome for a reason when he went out to preach. Firstly, because God had sent him, but because Rome was a central 'point of the world' as 'all roads lead to Rome'.

Calvary Chapel Elk Grove is a non-denominational fellowship located in Roselle, a northwest suburb of Chicago in Illinois.
