Listen to these encouraging studies by Pastor George from the Book of Psalms.

Abraham Lincoln was known to speak out against the heresy of fatalism which says that you can do nothing about your future, while at the same time opposing the opposite heresy of humanism which says you can control your own fate. In today’s lesson, Jacob will play the role of the humanist as he sends a bribe to the leader of Egypt, while at the same time speaking as a fatalist when he says, “If I am bereaved, I am […]

The purpose of Chronicles is to bring hope in the future Messiah who will come from David’s line. While the history of God’s people is marred, it does not lead to despair. Chronicles helps us to look to the King of Kings, trust in His word, seek Him with all our heart, and let Him fight our battles.

In today’s lesson, Joseph’s brothers are going to realize how much their lives have turned into one big mess, and they are going to ask the question: “What is this that God has done to us?” And even though much of their mess was of their own making, it was a valid question to ask, because ultimately God is sovereign over everything that happens in this world. Not only will we look today at the circumstances that brought them to […]

I’ve often heard it said that the primary mark of guilt is the fear of judgment. In today’s story in Genesis 42, it is the fear of judgment that awakens the guilt of Joseph’s brothers for the crime they committed against him some 20 years earlier. Guilt is a terrible thing to live with, but as we will be reminded of in today’s lesson, through salvation in Christ, it can be dealt with once and for all! George

If you carefully study the great men and women of the Bible who bore much fruit, there are two things about them that really stand out: 1) They were greatly afflicted; and 2) for long stretches of time they lived in virtual solitude. Joseph was no exception. Today as we see his rise to power, he will attribute much of his success to his strong relationship with the Lord and the affliction He allowed him to suffer. You can be […]

A lot of people are sounding the alarm today and warning us that the negative impact the Coronavirus is having on the world’s food supply chain could very well cause a worldwide famine of biblical proportions. It could be a famine as great or greater than the one that took place in Joseph’s day. As we look today at Joseph’s role as the hand of God’s mercy during that crisis, we can learn some important lessons as to how we […]

As mountain goats go up steep terrain, their hind feet go where their front feet have been. That’s actually a good picture of how we as Christians are to traverse the mountains of life. We move in the present according to where God has led us in the past. So if God has been faithful to us in the past, He will be faithful to us now and in the future. If He has delivered us in the past, He […]
