As was the case with Heman, there is a lot of trouble in this psalm. How we approach God during times of trouble is critical. Ethan reminds me here of Paul and Silas in the Philippian jail. Not denying things are bad—no name it and claim it here. But focusing on God—who He is and how faithful He has been.

In the time we live in, we don’t even know what war is any more.  We face chemical warfare, terrorist attacks—we face threats we don’t even understand!  Things  are not getting better…Truly we live in the time the Bible predicted when good is called evil and evil is called good…

This is an exhortation to us to never give up, never stop praying no matter how bad things seem or how silent God seems to be…
