  • Isaiah 51:1-53:5
"It’s pretty amazing to think about how many times the Lord says to His people (then
and now) ‘Listen to me.’ God is always speaking but the problem is that people aren’t
very good at listening. The listening here is because He wants the people to remember His past faithfulness because it is God’s faithfulness upon which every blessing flows…Clearly, this is a command to us as well as Israel. God has tremendous encouragement available for those who pursue righteousness and who seek Jesus. This is not a message for people who care nothing for righteousness or who don’t want Jesus managing their lives. I pray everyone (that hears this message) is in the former category."

  • Luke 18:1-14
"The principle meaning of this parable (and what follows) is only understood when connected with what we just read (in the previous chapter) regarding when the kingdom of God was coming. This is not a teaching out of chronological order; it is intended (we know from verses 7-8) that it must be understood in the context of the 2nd coming of Jesus—the Day of the Lord."

  • Hebrews 11:29-30
"The difference between the Jews and the Egyptians was never courage. In fact, the
Egyptians had much greater courage than did Israel. The difference was faith— the Israelites made it through because of faith. The only difference between a victorious Christian life and a defeated life is the exercise of faith."

  • Isaiah 49:13-50:11
"Israel is complaining that God doesn’t love them anymore. ‘If God loved us, would we be in this mess?’ They are blaming all their troubles on God not being faithful while God is saying just the opposite is true. ‘I have been faithful. Did I divorce you? Show me the proof—the certificate. You can’t show me because I never divorced you—your problems are self-inflicted because of sin!’ That means that all their problems were caused by rebellion. They divorced God, not the other way around.."
